Merchandise Preparation

Merchandise Prep:
Here are some guidelines to help as you prepare and
price your
items for the sale.

Clothing

The better they look, the better they sell! Please wash
and iron your clothes if necessary. Check for stains, broken
zippers, torn hemlines, etc. We will be double checking at the store
and will not accept any item that is not in great condition. Use
children's plastic hangers for sizes 8 and below. Use larger plastic
hangers for sizes 10 and above or colored wire coated
hangers as long as they are 'size appropriate.' No metal hangers,
please! Plastic and wire-coated hangers can be purchased at
discount stores (Walmart, Dollar General, Target). This makes
shopping more pleasant for everyone!

We are receiving only
Fall & Winter Children's, Junior and
Maternity clothing for this sale.
Please group items together so
that they will equal a value of at least $4.00.
  Also - use
Whole Dollars only (ie. $4, $5 etc.  Not $4.50).
The hangers
should be rubber banded together or taped.

All shorts, pants and skirts must be
pinned to a hanger, not folded
over, as they tend to end up on the floor.  Do not pin bottoms to tops.
This causes holes once on the racks with all the movement, so be
sure to pin the bottom to a hanger.
Rubber band hangers together for sets and pin accessories securely
to the item.  All pieces need to be viewable without unpinning them.

Pricing Guidelines

Keep in mind that some brands sell better than others.  For example,
an Old Navy shirt will sell on the lower end of the scale, whereas a
dress from Gap or Gymboree will sell for the high end of the scale.
Size is also a consideration.  Infant to size 2T should be priced lower
as there is a larger supply than demand (remember all those cute
outfits you received at your baby shower?).  New clothing with tags
will sell at the higher end of the scale.  We suggest 40% of retail as a
maximum asking price.
***To earn the highest payout possible, we recommend that
our consignors offer as many items as possible for half price
on the final days (especially if they are donating unsold items).
Many people shop on the half price day and will often pass
over items with a red dot.
All items MUST be priced $4 or higher.  No exceptions, please.

Shoes

Please only bring your like-new shoes!
Safety pin your index card tag through an eyelet or shoe lace. No
bags or boxes please

Bedding

It is best to package a bedding set together in its original clear plastic
bag with zipper. These can also be purchased at discount stores or
large zip lock bags from The Dollar Store

Blanket

Hang and pin blankets over hangers so that shoppers can see them.
If they are small receiving blankets, group 2 or 3 together in a zip lock
bag and seal with clear plastic tape. Safety pin tag to zip lock bag.

Loose Items

Bibs, rattles, bows, etc group together appropriately in zip lac
bags. Seal with clear packing tape. Pin tag to zip lock bag. It also
helps
to write your consignor code on the zip lock with a Sharpie in case the
tag comes off during the sale.  Please put tag on outside of bag.

Toys, Furniture, Equipment

Must be clean and in working order with new batteries, where
needed.
Small parts should be zip locked, taped closed, and attached to the
toy
securely.  Games should be taped closed. Puzzles,
books, videos and small toys should be grouped accordingly and put
in zip lock bags. Secure with clear packing tape and pin tag to the
zip lock bag. It is also good to write your consignor number and info
on
the zip lock bag with a Sharpie in case the tag comes off. Puzzles
should be wrapped securely in clear Saran wrap to keep the pieces
intact.

Large Little Tykes Toys and Furniture are in high demand! When
tagging large toys it is best to also attach a piece of masking tape to
the toy with your consignor information.

Car Seats

Car seats must have a manufactured date of on the seat, must
be dated within 5 years, must never have been in an accident,
and must have not been recalled (call 1-800-434-9393 for
recall info).  All seat covers and straps must be thoroughly
cleaned. You will be asked to sign a car seat waiver stating
your car seat meets our requirements.
